Aam Aadmi Party's 10-year government in Delhi falls as Bharatiya Janata Party sweeps Assembly elections. The AAP was able to win only 22 seats with significant losses in their own strongholds including New Delhi, Greater Kailash, Shakur Basti, Patparganj seats.
Aam Aadmi Party Supremo Arvind Kejriwal himself lost at his bastion New Delhi constituency after winning from there consecutively thrice till now. Other important AAP leaders like Saurabh Bharadwaj and Manish Sisodia also saw losses.
Japan also began their campaign with a 5-5 draw against Korea but has since struggled to secure a win. They lost their second game 5-1 to India and followed that with a 2-1 defeat against Pakistan.
Through the power of democracy, the residents of Delhi across all 70 assembly seats determined the fate of the politicians, regardless of their long-standing connections to certain constituencies.
New DelhiFormer chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has been contesting from New Delhi seat for the last three assembly elections. His previous victories were marked by significant margins, including a 21,687-vote lead in the 2020 elections. In 2013, Kejriwal defeated Congress’ Sheila Dikshit.
But BJP's Parvesh Verma defeated Kejriwal in his bastion with a margin of 4089 votes this year.

Greater KailashBharadwaj, the chief spokesperson for the Delhi Unit of the Aam Aadmi Party, has been a key member of AAP for some time now but he failed to win his fourth victory from the Greater Kailash seat in this year's polls. Known for his environmental and urban initiatives, Bharadwaj was pitted against BJP's Shikha Rai who defeated him with a margin of 3188 votes.
JangpuraJangpura has been an AAP stronghold as it won the last two elections in 2015 and 2020 by Praveen Kumar. In the 2020 elections, the AAP won by more than 15,000 votes than its closest competitor, the BJP.
This time AAP fielded Manish Sisodia from this seat, Sisodia had a few months after being arrested in the Delhi Excise Policy scam. Even though he got bail recently, presumably the voters lost touch with the leader.
BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah defeated Sisodia with a slight margin of 675 votes.
Malviya NagarAAP candidate Somnath Bharti lost at the Malviya Nagar constituency this time to BJP candidate Satish Upadhyay. Bharti won the last 3 elections with an impressive lead over his competitors. In 2015 and 2020 assembly elections he had more than 50 per cent of the vote share.
But this time Upadhyay defeated Bharti with a margin of 2131 votes.
PatparganjFor the past three elections, the Patparganj constituency has been witnessing AAP's victories under former Deputy Chief Minister and AAP veteran Manish Sisodia. However, this year AAP fielded teacher-turned-politician Awadh Ojha as its candidate against BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi and the results disappointed the party.
Negi won the Patparganj seat with a margin of 28072 votes this time.
pop the slotsBefore the AAP, Congress dominated the constituency from 1998 to 2013. Anil Chaudhary himself won the seat in the 2008 election by a margin of 663 votes.

Rajinder NagarThis time AAP fielded their senior leader Durgesh Pathak from the Rajinder Nagar seat, where MP Raghav Chadha had previously won from.
But Pathak lost the seat to BJP's Umang Bajaj with a margin of 1231 votes.
TrilokpuriBJP's Ravi Kant won the Trilokpuri constituency by a narrow margin of just 392 votes, defeating AAP's Anjana Parcha.
This victory marked a significant flip, as AAP had previously secured the seat by over 6,000 votes in the 2020 election.
NajafgarhNajafgarh has been under AAP's rule in the last two election, former minister and AAP leader Kailash Gahlot won from the Najafgarh constituency in 2015 and 2020 on an AAP ticket.
But after Gahlot left AAP, the party fielded Tarun Kumar from this seat but he failed to win this time. BJP's Neelam Pahalwan won Najafgarh with a margin of 29,009 votes.
Shakur BastiSenior AAP leader Satyendra Jain contested from Shakur Basti, a seat he had won in the last three elections.
But Jain failed to win this time from his bastion as BJP's Karnail Singh won the seat with a margin of 20,998 votes.
Patel NagarThe Patel Nagar Constituency, which AAP has held firmly since the 2013 elections attracted considerable attention this year as both parties fielded turncoats from each other.
Raaj Kumar Anand, who won the seat for AAP in the last election contested again, but this time as a BJP candidate. On the other hand, Pravesh Ratn, who had contested against Anand from the BJP in the 2020 elections, challenged him as the AAP candidate in this election.
Even though AAP candidate won from this seat, BJP's Raaj Kumar Anand closed the margin to only 4,049 votes making it a tighter race than last time.
Similarlygppbet, seats like Seemapuri, Ambedkar Nagar and Kondli were won by AAP but the margins and vote shares saw a decline.
